  explanation of effects:  First image: For this image, I included a close up shot alike most of my other finalized pictures to provide the audience with a sense of intimacy and trust, whilst being contrasted by the clinical coldness provided by the black and white. I used mobile software to create a blurred and glitch effect on the numbers on the mask - Helplines of domestic abuse. The effect I wanted to create was that the more the pandemic has worsened, the more help has vanished. Using the 4 different photographs to show the worsening of the situation as well as the lack of clarity victims have been given by the government. The remaining on the victim and his eyes in this instance, reminds the audience that the victims still remain, but the reliability of governments help does not.

  Week thirteen:  Individual work: Working further on my critical introduction after finalizing my photos: 'Masked' is an exploration into both the physical and psychological impact of the global pandemic on victims of both male and female victims of domestic abuse. I hope that my work successfully reflects the heightened ability for abusers to conceal their actions in a time of safety being maintained by physical and social distancing. As the photographer, I still found myself obsessing over small details, hiccups in life, and regretting previous actions or conversations I had had when the world was as we knew it before the pandemic I found myself confined by a routine of being consumed by the past due to the uncertainty of the future. It is in this reminiscence in which I believe photography has its relevance.
