For another part of research, I decided to search up "COVID photography" to see if I found any images that came up especially inspiring or thought provoking.
Photos I was especially inspired by:- What I found both interesting and inspiring about this photo was the portrayal of the current situation through the framing and subject in the image. The notable distance between the subject and photographer helps to display the actual distance we are needing to keep between each other for our own safety. As well as this, metaphorically speaking the distance also signifies a sense of disconnection. This plays on the idea that despite humans thriving and needing contact, we are currently living in a world in which this is restricted. The addition of a mask and gloves heightens this sense of coldness which is then emphasized further by the use of dark to light. As well as visually, the use of light could also suggest that although we still have hope, we are still living a world of negativity and instability. We are holding onto hope but our world has ultimately been dominated by a force out of our control. Concluding this, the subjects casual hair style and attire highlights that these strange rituals and routines are now part of our "new normal". This is something I want to be conveyed through the images I created too.
